| Bio: | Yes this is a very, very serious blog where you will have no fun. No fun at all. This is business. I'm a liar. My name is Catherine, and I'm a senior at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. This journal is a way for me to communicate with everyone while I'm away on the University of Pittsburgh's Semester at Sea program. The SAS program, essentially, plops you (or me, as the case may be) on a large ship, which then proceeds to circumnavigate the entire planet, leaving from Vancouver, Canada. While at sea (not in port), students take some general ed classes. The ports of call vary, but for the Spring 04 semester they are, in order: Busan, Korea; Kobe, Japan; Shanghai, PRC; Hong Kong; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Chennai (Madras), India; Mombasa, Kenya; Capetown, South Africa; Salvador, Brazil; La Guaira, Venezuela; and finally, the ship docks in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I plan on tooling around in Florida for a few days, hopefully visiting Cape Canaveral, to satisfy my aeronautical cravings. Pictures that I will be taking (photography is a great hobby of mine) will be available here, at my Webshots page. These pictures are captioned, so if you want to know the story behind a picture, look directly underneath it. They will be updated only every so often, if and when I can find an internet cafe in port. There are other pictures you may want to look at on the Webshots page that are unrelated to SAS- I took some pictures of an abandoned asylum in Western MA, as well as pictures of my neighborhood in Boston, etc. Anyway, in this journal you probably won't see daily updates- instead, you'll find me sporadically updating in large quantities. My neighbor Jodi will be updating it for me by backlogging entries that I email her once a week or so. There should be an entry every few days once she has entered them all. In order to access the backlogs, go to the "calendar" link at the top of the journal. So have fun, and PLEASE LEAVE COMMENTS!!
